Our Club

Mermaid Beach Physical Culture has been established for over ten years! The club has 150 members ranging from 4 years right through to 60 and over. We are extremely proud that so many of our foundation members are still active members of the club today.

We hold classes at Miami Primary School Hall and beginners are always welcomed. With classes just $7 a lesson, plus annual registration and insurance fee, Mermaid physie is a great value dance class for all ages!  Only one leotard is required for the years performances and there are no expensive costumes or footwear.

There is the opportunity to take part in individual and team performances. Participating in these events is a great fun way to show off the hard work put in throughout the year, build confidence, meet new friends and show that Mermaid team spirit! In addition, mini concerts are held throughout the year for the juniors, a great fun afternoon, with family and friends welcome to watch the girls perform on stage.

The physie year culminates in the individual and team performances, held at a local, state and national level. Mermaid Beach have been extremely successful over the years, now boasting an amazing seven individual Australian Champions.  Our teams have also achieved wonderful results, and we are now home to twenty state team titles and four national team titles. In 2011 the club are proud to have two individual Australian Champions, 5 national level top 5 placegetters, 2 state champion teams, 2 national champion teams, 37 state finalists and 25 national level competitors.

Results aside, the fun and friendship, whilst keeping fit is what our club and sport are all about. We have many social functions throughout the year, which add to our great club spirit and camaraderie.

Mostly, classes at Mermaid Beach physie are fun!  We ensure class sizes are kept at a suitable number, allowing attention to detail to each student and the opportunity to make new friends!    At Mermaid Beach, all girls are encouraged to perform to the best of their ability, but the fun along the way is always what the girls remember at the end of the year.
